Thy name is Facebook

“Will you be my friend?” the wannabe’s questioned people on these social networking sites.

Many questioned the questioned; some fumed and some even lashed out their egos. But as these sites grew older, people started evolving too.

Hi5, Orkut, Myspace – all had its days. But there is just one reigning king of social networking.

Thy name is FACEBOOK.

Students today are glued on to it more than their books. Rather than shoving their face into a book, they are constantly gazing the computer screens that exclaims Facebook.

Rather than social networking it’s become social compulsive networking. More than half of the people don’t know more than half of their so called ‘friends’ on their list. Like having 94,749 friends on your list matters so much to the world that it becomes a hot topic of discussion.

You will find your mother’s father’s son’s brother’s son on Facebook. You will find people writing on your wall every two seconds. You will have people who practically know inch by inch of your life because of Facebook. You will also find a group of people whom you have never seen in your life (family or otherwise) writing on your wall and even those whom you just met three seconds ago.

Whatever it is- be it the irritating pop up notifications, the unanswerable questions, the time wasting games or the unavoidable friends, you and me cannot deny the fact that Facebook is something we all eat, breathe and live today. It is clearly the daddy of all social networking.

Ok now let’s not be mean. The other social networking sites too need a mention.
